Master Classes & Guest Artist InstructionEach year, BYDE employs professional guest artist to conduct master dance seminars for advanced instruction in ballet, modern dance and jazz. These classes are open to the public. Upcoming Workshops
Master Class with Teanna Zarro Ballet class & Variations $25.00 Participation fee Teanna Zarro began studying ballet at six years of age, in her home town of Los Angeles, California. There she studied with the renowned Meredith Baylis, a former Soloist with Les Ballets Russes. Ms. Zarro continued her training with The Pennsylvania Ballet School, as well as studying on a full scholarship with The Joffrey Ballet School. At the age of seventeen Teanna moved to New York to join The Joffrey Ballet Two company, where she was coached by Elenore D'Antuonio, John Magnus, Winthrop Corey, Louis Fuente and Francesca Corkle. In 1998, Zarro performed as an apprentice with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. After performing in The Joffrey's production of The Nutcracker, she was asked to join the main company, under the directorship of Gerald Arpino. With The Joffrey, Ms. Zarro performed ballets choreographed by Arpino, Nijinsky, Cranko, Graham, Balanchine and many others. Recently, Teanna Zarro began a successful career as a freelance dancer and ballet teacher. She has performed principal roles with companies in The U.S., Canada, China & Panama. Master Classes with Winifred Haun 1:00-2:30- Junior IV-Intermediate I $25.00 per class participation fee, or Winifred Haun has been choreographer and artistic director of her own modern company, Winifred Haun & Dancers since 1991. She was a soloist with the internationally acclaimed Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre from 1985 to 1991. Ms. Haun has been nominated three times for the prestigious Ruth Page Award for Choreography and Performance and in 1999, she won the Ruth Page Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Dance Community. Ms. Haun's choreography has been commissioned by AMEBA Acrobatic and Aerial Dance, Zephyr Dance, and many other Midwest and national groups. She has taught dance and dance composition at the Chicago Academy for the Arts, Dance Center of Columbia College, Beijing National Dance Academy and at numerous festivals and workshops worldwide. Currently, Ms. Haun teaches modern dance at the Joffrey Ballet and Hubbard St. Dance Chicago. She is married to theoretical physicist, Stephen Parke, and they have three daughters.
